You can apply for your IDNYC starting Jan. 12 by making an appointment at nyc.gov/IDNYC.
IDNYC is a free ID card available to all New York City residents age 14 and older. Your immigration status does not matter, and no one will ask you about it. All you have to do is provide proof of identity and residence in the five boroughs of New York City.
Having seen how lack of identification can lead to economic inequality and even tragedy, I was proud to co-sponsor legislation establishing IDNYC. This is not just an issue for immigrants. It's an issue for the homeless, the elderly and other residents who have difficulty obtaining state photo identification cards. I supported this bill from the start because it is the right thing to do for all New Yorkers.
This is the one card that is truly your key to the city, increasing access to City government and services with a range of discounts and benefits to enjoy your city and prove you are a New Yorker!
