For all of you involved in community organizations: The timetable for applying for city council funding from the Fiscal Year 2016 New York City Budget will begin and end approximately one month earlier than in previous years. Applications are currently available on the city council website – http://council.nyc.gov (select `Budget’).
The FY 2016 timetable will be as follows:
Jan. 5 – FY 2016 applications will be available on the city council website (applications may only be submitted online);
Feb. 20 - FY 2016 expense funding applications must be completed no later than 5 p.m.; after 5 p.m. expense applications will be removed from the city council website;
Feb. 26 - FY 2016 capital funding applications to the borough president and city council for the same project must be completed no later than 5:00 p.m.;
The deadline for FY 2016 capital applications to the city council only will be announced in early January.
When determining what to apply for, keep in mind that discretionary capital requests are designated for the purpose of construction and/or renovation projects and are separate from discretionary expense requests, which cover programming. Please note that City capital funding is awarded with significant restrictions and many not-for-profit organizations are not eligible for capital funding.
Community-based organizations are the lifeblood of my district and I thank you for all of the phenomenal work you do to improve our community and make New York the most dynamic city in the world in which to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to working with you to make this as smooth a process as possible.
I will be contacting you later in January to announce the date and location of my FY 2016 Budget Workshop and with additional information regarding the FY 2016 funding application process. In the meantime, should you have any problems accessing the budget applications on the city council website or have additional questions regarding the process, please contact my Legislative and Budget Director, Edwina Frances Martin, Esq., at email@example.com, or call my Legislative Office at (212) 788-6972.
