CITY HALL -- As part of an effort to help boost Staten Island's economy, Councilwoman Debi Rose (D-North Shore) hosted a roundtable discussion with business and education leaders.
"From shore to shore, Staten Island is entering a new era of economic development, and with that comes opportunity for business and workers alike," Ms. Rose said in her opening remarks at the roundtable on Thursday, according to her office.
Roundtable participants discussed value of work-based learning, internships, as well as bringing higher education into the workforce development process and facilitating green business on Staten island, according to the release.
The roundtable was a project of Mayor Bill de Blasio's Jobs for New Yorkers Task Force, formed last May. Katy Gaul-Stigge, executive director of the Mayor's Office of Workforce Development, said the discussion was a "wonderful opportunity" to get feedback on the task force and what the needs are on the Island's North Shore.
